The electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical behavior of 7nitro5,10,15,20tetraphenylporphyrin, (NO2)TPPH2 and its complexes (NO2)TPPM, M=Zn(), Cu() have been studied by cyclic voltammetry and in situ UVVis spectrochemistry in dichloromethane. By cyclic voltammetry the compounds underwent four reversible reduction and oxidation steps, the redox process involved only the porphyrin system. A mechanism of redox reaction has been proposed and confirmed by UVVis spectrum measurements.
