摘 要: 本实证研究以英语语域意识为视角,考察高级阶段二语习得者在语篇层面上句式变换和社会语言规约两方面的习得情况。40位来华访问或在华工作的以英语为本族语的英语教师和110位中国的大学英语教师对三个内容相同、但句式不同的中国学生英语作文段落进行评判。研究发现:与本族语者相比,二语习得者更重视句式变换技能,却不大顾及对语域特征的评判,乃至对第二语言产出中的某些失误也浑然不察,所习得的第二语言句法能力与该语言的语域规约没能自然衔接。笔者提出,外语教学中不应把英语国家学校里传授的旨在提高语言艺术的修辞规范,错当成日常生活中的书面语规范来训练自己的学生,应把学习者的注意力适时从抽象的句法变换引导到区分不同语域遣词造句的得体性上来。 This paper reports an empirical study for which 40 L1 English teachers and 110 L2 English teachers were chosen for a grading task of 3 content-similar,structure-different paragraphs written by L2 English learners.The results show that L2 English teachers attached more importance to syntactic transformation skills while paying much less attention to register features,and therefore lost the sensitivity to some improper output.The findings suggest that the rhetoric principles for literary elegance taught in the schools of English-speaking countries should not be taken as daily writing rules in L2 classroom training,and the learners' attention should be diverted in time from abstract syntactic variability to the appropriateness of wording and sentence making in accordance with a special register.
