摘　　要： 传统中国衙门的公堂之上普遍悬挂"明镜高悬"匾额,有着颇为丰富的文化内涵。本文拟在"凡俗与神圣"的文化脉络中,来解读其中蕴含的司法精神与司法理想。一方面,"明镜高悬"彰显了传统中国司法实践的核心价值,即实现"实质正义"的理想;另一方面,也表达了实现"实质正义"的基本进路,即司法官员不但要有"仁恕哀矜"的道德情感,而且要有"明察秋毫"的司法能力,以使案件真相大白,最终实现司法正义。因此,在公堂上彰显"明镜"的神性力量和象征意义,既延伸了司法官员的能力,又起到了约束司法官员的功能,更产生了威慑原被两造的作用。 The Mingjinggaoxuan plaque, which is commonly hang in the court of ancient China, is filled with plentiful cultural connotation. This thesis tries to expound the judicial spirit and ideal of Mingjinggaoxuan plaque in context of secularity and sanctity. On the one hand, Mingjinggaoxuan plaque reveals the core value of traditional Chinese judicature, that is, the ideal to achieve substantial justice. On the other hand, it also presents the approach to achieve substantial justice, that judicial officials should not only be merciful and compassionate ,but also should be perspicacious and penetrating enough to ravel out the truth and to realize judicial justice. Therefore,manifesting devin power and symbolic meaning of Mingjing（ bright mirror）in court has restricted judicial officials and extended their ability, which also has detered plantiffs and defendants.
