Osaki Yamakawa, a Japanese woman who prostituted herself in Malaysia in the movie Sandakan No. 8, has long been interpreted as a symbol of social criticism with social theory. But as a prostitute living at the bottom of society and severely ravaged, this woman image is also of great significance in the field of ontology. On the one hand, her life, which is full of miseries and misfortunes, vividly presents the process of a woman's self being alien- ated under the system of "discourse of power" ; while on the other hand, it also indicates that despite of being pent- up, the selves of those women who live at the bottom of society can still be revitalized with constant humanitarian care and then display their due social values.
