摘 要: "极简主义"代表作家鲍比.安.梅森的成名作《夏伊洛》的结尾无论在"故事"层面还是"话语"层面都是开放式的:读者既不能确定勒罗伊与妻子诺玛.简的关系将如何发展,也无法对他们做出明确的价值判断。《夏伊洛》不仅悬置了人物对自我的认识,也悬置了读者对人物的认识。通过这种叙事方式,梅森旨在让读者与人物一道去探索微妙的生活之谜。 'Shiloh',the first major story published in 1982 by Bobbie Ann Mason,the representative writer of 'Minimalism',is featured with an ending that is open at both the 'story' level and the 'discourse' level:the reader cannot determine how the relationship between Leroy and his wife Norma Jean will develop on the one hand and cannot pass explicit value judgments on them on the other.By suspending the characters' self-realization and the reader's realization of the characters,Mason intends her reader,together with the characters,to explore the great mysteries of life.
