摘　　要： 本文以一篇英语新闻的播报为例对英语语调的人际功能进行了研究,播音员对于三个包含列举的名词短语所使用的不同语调模式,说明播音员不仅充分理解了新闻稿的逻辑语义关系,而且成功地把不同的逻辑语义关系通过语调传达给了听众,在语篇和听众之间充当了积极的的信息传递者的角色。从这个角度我们可以看出英语语调的人际功能。 This paper studies the interpersonal function of English intonation by looking into a newsreader＇ s engagement with the task of news reading. We examine the degree of the newsreader＇ s engagement with the reading task by observing how he presents two different kinds of listing through the use of intonation. We find that different intonation pattems are used for these two different kinds of listing. This shows that the newsreader performs as an engaged communicator of information instead of a mere medium between the script and the audience. Thus, from the perspective of the newsreader＇s engagement with the reading task, we can say that English intonation plays an interpersonal role in news reading.
