摘　　要： 中性问句指字面不表示问话人意见和态度的一类疑问句,汉语方言中有各种不同的句式,可分层次归纳为具有类型学意义的类型。1886年出版的潮州话教材A HANDBOOK OF THE SWATOW VERNACULAR(《汕头话读本》)中有不少中性问句的语料,对探讨潮州话中性问句的类型、特点、演变以及类型学研究中的某些相关问题有价值。文章先依具体结构分列书中所见的中性问句以及与之关系密切的选择问句和是非问句,再对其分类和涉及的类型学问题进行讨论,最后就潮州话中性问句的固有类型、类型的变化和发展、闽语中性问句的特点、中性问句与是非问句、选择问句的关系等问题得出一些认识。 Neutral questions （NQs） refer to a particular type of interrogative sentences which show no verbal reference to the initiator＇s personal views. Among different sentence patterns in Chinese dialects, many can be typologically re-categorized into different layers. A good number of NQs found in A Handbook of the Swatow Vernacular published in 1886 are of great significance to the study of the types, characteristics, developments and related typological issues of the NQs in Chaozhou dialect. This paper starts with a structural array of all the NQs in the handbook, along with some alternative questions （AQs） and general questions （GQs） which are closely related to NQs. The paper then makes a discussion on the NQ classification and some typological issues, and finally shares some understandings of the basic type, the changes and developments of the NQs in Chaozhou dialect, the characteristics of NQs in Min group and the relationship between NQs, AQs and GQs.
