摘　　要： 虽然生态问题是《荒原》所阐述的重要主题之一,却长期以来受到批评家们的忽略。本文以生态批评的视角,对《荒原》里展现的一个生态失衡的荒漠世界进行探讨:1)隐藏在宗教意识里的生态失衡;2)生态失衡与人的异化;3)生态失衡与荒原的隐喻。本文认为:由于人类毫无止境地向自然索取,结果导致了自然生态的失衡,并产生了社会生态失衡,使自己陷入"生存着的死亡"的悲苦境地。 Ecological issue is one of the most concerned issues in The Waste Land, but it has long been ignored by the critics. And the present paper intends to make comments on The Waste Land with the help of ecocriticism, while discussing 1 ） religious conscious and ecological balance; 2） the unbalanced ecological problem and alienated human being; and 3） the unbalanced ecological environment and the metaphorically desolate land. After careful analysis and discussion, the paper holds the view that due to man＇ s unceasing desire for materials, there appears an ecologically unbalanced society that drives people to give up the basic principles of their ethics and morality. They start to ask the nature for more than it could afford, only to find an ecologically unbalanced natural world, in which there is nothing but miserable ＂living-death＂ life.
