摘　　要： 本文从社会学的角度，讨论了汕头市话的含义、汕头市话语音系统的形成和发展，及其与周边兄弟方言的差别，并指出，汕头市话早已取代了潮州府城话而成为潮汕方言的代表语。 Starting from the angle of sociology, this paper lays down a definition for Shantou City vernacular of Chaozhou-Shantou subdialect of Southern Fujian dialect, gives an account of the formation and development of its phonetic system, describes its differences with the peripheral vernaculars, and points out that Shantou City vernacular has replaced Chaozhou County vernacular as the representative speech of Chaozhou-Shantou subdialect of Southern Fujian dialect.
