摘　　要： 《黑暗的心》是一本描写帝国主义的小说。自从1902发表以来,该书受到了批评家们的强烈关注。关于小说的主题和人物塑造一般有两种观点:一是该小说是以反帝国主义为主题,相应来说其人物塑造也是以讽刺和谴责为目的;一是这是一篇宣扬帝国主义精神的作品,人物形象的刻画也是为了达到帝国主义宣传的目的。这两种观点都未能将帝国主义者加以正确的划分。本文从小说出发,试图对帝国主义者做一个合理的划分,对不同的类别进行初步比较。 Heart of Darkness is a book about Imperialism. Since its publication in 1902, it has received much criticism either for its topic or for its characterization. All in all, there are two tendencies in the process of criticism. One is that this book is anti-imperialistic and its characterization is designed for criticism and condemnation. The other one is that this is a book to eulogize imperialism and the characters are created for the purpose of propagandizing imperialistic thoughts. Both of these two kinds of criticism failed in making a right distinction between different kinds of imperialists. It is the primary aim of this thesis to make an appropriate division between two kinds of imperialists and to make a tentative comparison between them.
