中国学生英语口笔语语体特征研究:词汇密度与词频

摘  要: 本文基于中国学生英语口笔语语料库(SWECCL)和中国学习者英语语料库(CLEC),采用中介语对比分析法,利用语料库分析软件WordSmith,从词汇密度和词频两个角度,研究了中国学生英语口笔语的语体特征。研究发现,学生口笔语的词汇密度差异较小,口语和书面语中使用最频繁的50个词均由实词和功能词构成且实词在两种语体中都不承担一定的语篇功能。这和其它针对本族语者口语和书面语语体特征的研究结果有所不同。该研究进一步证明了中国学生的口笔语并没有呈现较强的语体特征,实际上倾向使用的是一种混合语体,提示在英语教学中需要考虑语境对第二语言习得的影响,注意培养学生语体意识。 This study attempts to investigate the register features of Chinese learners' spoken and written English from the perspectives of lexical density and frequency. Based on the Spoken and Written English Corpus of Chinese Learners (SWECCL) and Chinese Learner English Corpus (CLEC), the paper compares the lexical density and the 50 most frequently used words of Chinese learners' spoken English with their written English. The comparison has yielded three major findings. Firstly, the lexical density demonstrates little difference between Chinese learners' spoken and written English. Secondly, both the 50 most frequent word lists from learners' spoken and written data include functional words and lexical words. Thirdly, the lexical words in the word lists do not serve any discourse functions in both registers. These findings contrast with those based on the data of native speakers. The study suggests that Chinese learners' spoken and written English do not show strong register features as far as the lexical density and frequency are concerned. Therefore, it is suggested that apart from developing students' language proficiency, teachers also need to enhance students' awareness of the register features of spoken and written English.
