摘　　要： 英国《泰晤士报》对德国侵占胶州湾后各国的舆论反应进行了详细的报道。这些记录有助于我们了解帝国主义列强掀起瓜分中国狂潮之初的心态与决策过程。最初各国试图阻止德国的这一打破列强在华利益既有格局并有损中国主权的行动;在德国提出强租胶州湾后,各国舆论迅速转向,抛开了同情中国的伪装,开始为本国如何从中谋取好处出谋划策;当俄国率先效法德国,侵占大连湾后,列强间的争夺迅速升温,报刊纷纷提出侵略中国的"补偿"计划,掠夺中国的狂潮随之到来。 The British Times featured detailed reports of the public opinions of different countries about the German occupation of Jiaozhou Bay. These records help us understand the imperialist powers in terms of their mentality and decision-making process in partitioning China. At the beginning, those powers tried preventing Germany form taking action which would disrupt their gained interests and China＇s sovereignty. However, when Germany proposed renting Jiaozhou Bay by force, their opinions made a sharp turn towards gaining benefits for their own countries. When Russia followed suit and occupied Dalian, the press at once proposed plans of making compensations by invading China, causing a wave of plundering China.
