摘　　要： 本文论述了大学功能是社会发展的产物,大学理念是大学功能的理论升华,大学理念与大学功能两者之间存在相辅相成、相互促进的关系。大学理念是上层建筑、是理论、是精神,大学功能是活动形式、是实践;大学功能是大学理念的实践基础,大学理念是大学功能的意识形态;大学理念指导大学功能,大学功能完善大学理念。大学理念与大学功能的内涵发展趋势,是大学功能在人才培养、科学研究、社会服务三大功能上扩展。 This article has elucidated the correlations between ＂the university function＂ and ＂the university idea＂. It stress on that the university function is end outcomes of social development, while the university idea is theoretical sublimation of the u- niversity function. The two concepts are not only reliance on but facilitate each other. The university idea can be identified as i- deological superstructure, a theory and a spirit, but the university function is form of activity, a practice and natural world. The university function is the practical basis of the university idea; the university idea is ideology of the university function. Under the instruction of the university idea, the university function will drive the university idea to be perfect. Development trends of the university function and idea is to expand the functions of education, research and social service of university, emphasize on education for all-round development and creative ability, strengthen social service potential, and transfer the rich intelligent resources of university into economic construction power, and facilitate the development of high-tech industries in China .
