摘　　要： 库切的小说《等待野蛮人》讲述了帝国边境小镇附近异族部落被指称为野蛮人的他者化的过程,以及随之出现的边境恐慌和骚乱。实际上,真正的野蛮存在于帝国内部。这一故事具有寓言性,成为种族以及国家等冲突的历史缩影。同时,这部小说也表现了库切超越于社会话语迷思对于人的生存状态的关注。 J.M.Coetzee＇s Waiting for the Barbarians（1980） narrates the othering process in which a tribe near a frontier settlement of the Empire was considered barbaric,and the panics and turbulences therewith afterwards.The real barbarians were,however,from within the Empire.Thus the allegorical story becomes a historical epitome of inter-racial and international conflicts.The novel also reveals Coetzee＇s concern with the human existence,which goes beyond the enigmatic social discourse.
