摘　　要： 《看不见的人》的主人公是一位在不断寻找身份中成长的黑人青年,以正面形象和反面形象出现的引路人在他成长的过程中极大影响着他对自我身份的追求。他经历了成年和成长的仪式,并从中获得了如何确认身份的顿悟,他的成长铺设在螺旋式结构和第一人称叙述视角中,这些充分说明小说是一部典型的成长小说。 The protagonist of Invisible Man is a black young man who is seeking for his identity. Firstly, he is greatly influenced by the guides either as positive characters or negative ones. In addition, he undergoes the rites of growth and maturity, and gains epiphany about how to assure his identity. Finally, his way to maturity is framed in the spiral structure and first-person narration. Therefore, we can say that this novel is a typical initiation novel.
