摘　　要： 长期以来,“信”一直被视为翻译最重要的标准之一。翻译是一个信息传递的过程。根据相关信息论原理,我们可以看到,“信”其实是一个相当模糊的概念,以其作为标准来评价及指导翻译活动是不科学的。从某种意义上说,将“信”作为翻译标准使得翻译研究的视野十分狭窄,因而对翻译理论的发展起到了一定的负面作用。 ＂Faithfulness＂ has long been adopted as one of the most important translation criteria. Translating involves information processing and transferring. According to information theory, we can see that ＂faithfulness＂ is a very obscure concept. It is unscientific to use such an obscure concept to judge and direct translation act. To a certain degree, ＂faithfulness＂ has made the field of translation studies very narrow. It has played some negative role in translation studies.
