摘　　要： 19世纪中叶以前,华侨与家乡的联系主要依靠往返海外与国内乡里的水客。本文认为,正是这些往返于海外和闽粤侨乡的水客,加强了海外华侨与家乡亲人的联系。水客不仅是侨批业的创始人、金融网络的建构和经营者,而且也是海外移民网络的重要环节。 Before the middle of nineteenth century, overseas Chinese mainly depended on SAul Ke who traveled between foreign countries and MinYue to contact their hometowns. The paper demonstrates that it is SAul Ke who strengthened the contact between the overseas Chinese and their relatives at hometown. Shui Ke is the founder of overseas Chinese postal business, the constructor and operator of financial network and also formed an important part of overseas immigration network.
