摘　　要： 福克纳在《圣殿》故事的创作中,对男性人物进行了阉割,让他们或软弱,或势利,或冷酷无情,对女性人物则或赋予坚强、忍耐、忠贞的美德,或给予她们男权社会中男人所特有的控制力量,这与故事中描写的男性形成了强烈对比。虽然他对女主角谭波儿的“恶”进行了细致的描写,但是从女性反抗男权社会,争取变客体为主体地位的角度出发,发现谭波儿的“恶”在很大程度上是她生活在父系符号系统中受到压制的结果。同时福克纳对谭波儿的描写也无不透漏着同情。 Sanctuary is one of Faulkner＇ s most popular novels with most conflicting comments from reviewers. In this story, Faulkner enhanced women＇ s position by castrating the men. Even many remarks stated that Faulkner showed his dislike of women by showing their bitchery in nature. We find that despite his vivid description of Temple＇s vicious doings, he held deep sympathy for her and the other women in the story. Because living in a society controlled by men, women had to gain their position as a subject by betraying the society＇ s symbols imposed on them by men.
