Sangganhe River originates from Yanbei area, Shanxi province, crosses northwestern Hebei province and Beijin, joins Haihe River, then empties into Bohai. In the past, in Sangganhe basin, wars broke out violently among Han and other minorities. But in Beiqi Dynasty, the poets began to lay their eyes-sights to the river, and the wars here. From Tang to Song Dynasty, poems on Sangganhe were booming. Wars, tourism and forced labour were the main theme of the poems. The theme of peace was another important one. Poets praised or criticized the wars vehemently, but the changes of the poems styles was also obvious, for the situations of the society were so different.
