摘　　要： 改革开放20年来珠江三角洲经历了巨大的发展和变化,这种变化一个显著标志就是城市的迅速扩张以及大量开发区的出现. 以珠江三角洲发展最快的城市之一东莞为例,探讨了1998～2003年间其经济发展与开发区增加的关系,并从时间和空间上分析了造成这种现象发生的原因和驱动因素. 研究发现,随着经济增长速度的加快,开发区面积在东部和南部地区明显增大,表明了开发区面积的增加与该阶段的经济发展有密切的关系. 除此以外,研究还表明人口增加、高速公路建设等也是重要的影响因素. Great changes had taken place in the Pearl 20 years, and the important symbols of these changes River Delta （PRD） areas in the past included urban expansion and development - area spring. Using the technique of remote sensing, this paper discussed the rela- tions between the economy and development - area of Dongguan, one of the fastest economy growing cities in PRD. And the temporal - spatial causes and driving factors were also analyzed. The results showed that the areas of development - area increased apparently with the economy development, and the expansion directions of developmentareas were moving to east and south gradually. On the other hand, the growth of population and the construction of highway are also important factors affecting the development - area changes.
