This study mainly deals with the influence of working memory capacity on the generation of predictive inference during text reading. The results showed both low and high working memory(WM) capacity readers were equally able to make predictive inferences under conditions without any limitation of processing time; however, if the processing time permitted was insufficient, the low WM capacity reader would fail to construct the predictive inference. The results suggested that low WM capacity might delay the construction of predictive inference during text-reading.
