摘　　要： 19世纪英国维多利亚时代的伦理文化,以讲究道德而著名。若说这一时代的小说与其他时代的小说有什么特别区别的话,那就是这时的小说再现了维多利亚时代人的道德面貌。19世纪英国小说家是资产阶级的道德家。道德批判是他们在小说中表现的内容之一。道德是作家臧否社会和人的重要标准。可以说,这时期小说以强烈的针砭时弊的道德批判精神,浓厚的劝善说教、道德感化而赢得了读者的喜爱。 The British culture in the 19th century during the Victorian age stresses morality. Novels written during this period give a rather comprehensive picture of the 19th century England. The 19th century British novelists are moralists. They pay special attention to moral problems, and morality becomes an important criterion to judge a person in their novels. In a word, the novels of this period are welcomed by readers because they go deep into the moral searchings of the mind.
