摘 要: 本文旨在揭示四百多年来英国小说人物的演变过程,并探讨英国小说家的人物观以及人物在文本中的地位与作用。文章在论述人物与文本以及人物与情节等关系的同时,对某些深层次问题进行了深刻的反思。文章阐述了小说人物在文学史和批评史上遭受冷遇的原因,论证了人物为小说第一要素的观点,并强调了对小说人物从历史、文化和艺术层面上进行全方位研究的必要性。 This paper is intended to trace the development of the characters of the English novels over the past four hundred years, and discuss novelists' views of the character as well as the roles of the characters in the text. While exploring the relationship between the characters and the texts, and between the characters and the plots, the author of this paper reflects on some deep-rooted problems. The paper explains why the characters are often given the cold shoulder in the history of literature and criticism, elucidates the view of the character as the most important element in the novel, and emphasizes the necessity. of studying the character from historical, cultural and artistic perspectives.
