摘 要: 网络互联协议(Internet-protocol,IP)和异步传输模式(Asynchronous Transfer Mode,ATM)技术的结合,能充分发挥多协议标记交换(Multi Protocol Label Switching,MPLS)技术在流量管理方面的作用.MPLS在帧中继和ATM上运行,为面向连接的技术带来了IP的任意连通,适合在骨干网与广域网中使用.文章简述了MPLS的基本原理及其典型的网络体系结构,着重讨论了MPLS的应用. Currently, Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) is one of the most promising technologies of IP over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), which is suitable to apply in backbone and Wide Area Network (WAN). A combination technology of IP and ATM can be used in the area of traffic management and QoS. The benefit of the MPLS, which is running on FR and ATM, comes from the discretionary connectivity with connect oriented technology. In this paper, several representative technologies of IP over ATM were introduced at first. Then, basic principle and the network architecture of MPLS were reviewed. Finally, applications of MPLS were discussed.
