摘　　要： 重庆的近代报业始于十九世纪末叶。中国西南最早的近代报纸就诞生于重庆,其发展步履维艰,几经挫折。然而,重庆近代报业的先行者却愈挫而愈奋,所创报纸各具特色,博采众长。近代报刊对社会发展的影响,在各家报刊上无不体现,其影响至深至广。 With the upsurge of newspapering run by Chinese, Chongqing's newspapering started in the late of the nineteenth century. It is in Chongqing that the first newspaper of Southwest China was originated. These newspaper and periodicals were rather radical. They absorbed many other newspapers' strong points and the excellent newspapermen gained high respect. The modern newspapering's influence on the social development was also reflected in Chongqing's newspapers in the late period of Qing Dynasty.
