摘　　要： 进入中西异质文化圈之后的比较文学,其比较的对象与背景都发生了惊人的变化。面对两种迥然不同的文化传统、文字体系,美国汉学家刘若愚(JamesJ.Y .Liu)对汉语特性的研究无疑跨越了横亘在中西文化和文学比较之间的第一道樊篱,为中西比较文学的发展开启了新的方向。 Comparative object and background in comparoetive literature have got extraordinary changes by embracing heterogeneous cultures between Chinese and Western. Facing the two different cultural traditions, different systems of characters in the East and in the West. James Y. Liu's study on the features of Chinese characters undoubtedly has surmounted the first fence of comparative poetics between Chinese and Western , which also give a new orientation for further development of comparative literature.
