Ancient Chinese people were prone to name their children by some terms in Zhouyi. Some scholars had paid attention to this phenomenon, yet lack of deep research on it. Based on a comprehensive mathematical statistics from Zhong guo Wen xue jia Da ci dian, Great Dictionary of Chinese Literati, this paper sets forth that sixteen hexagrams such as Qian (hexagram 1 in the current version of Zhouyi) and Kun (hexagram 2) are commonly used, and the Tuan (Judgment on a hexagram) of these hexagrams, Wen Yan (a record of commentaries on hexagrams Qian and Kun), the remarks attached to the second and fifth lines of these hexagrams are usually adopted. By this the paper further reveals the hidden value orientation and philosophical connotations and finds out and examines the phenomenon that naming children by Zhouyi occurred less before the Song Dynasty and more since the Song Dynasty.
