摘　　要： “福气多多”、“受益多多”一类的四字格近年来引起一些讨论,我们认为有些结论值得商榷。考察44个有代表性的常用形容词自先秦至现当代(包括方言)用于四字格的情况,我们发现:“××AA”四字格出现于上古,唐宋达到高峰,此后,这种格式整体上处于萎缩状态,但每个形容词所构成的四字格以及它们在南北方言中的萎缩速度又是不平衡的,有的还出现了反复。因此,仅据当代汉语的情况来判断“××多多”不合规范是缺乏说服力的。 This paper studies the rise and fall of the four-word pattern “××AA” in Chinese. Ever since the Tang and Song dynasty, this pattern has been on the decline, yet the speed of the declining varies in accordance with the adjectives which are admitted into the pattern and the regional dialects.Therefore, it is not appropriate to label the pattern nonstandard simply by the conditions of contemporary Chinese.
