摘　　要： 该文从语用学的角度出发, 以关联理论为依据, 通过较有代表性的例子, 就英语幽默话语的理解与语境、说话人的意图与听话人的推理的关系加以分析, 寻求引发幽默效果的因素, 进而理解英语幽默话语特有的语用效果。 In the present paper,the author attempts to explain what is humor and how humor is produced and perceived in terms of context as well as speaker’s intention and listener’s inference on the basis of the Relevance Theory and thus to make clear how to appreciate English humor.
