摘　　要： 《更庄严的大夏》为奥尼尔未定稿之作 ,在剧作家死后发表。熟知该剧的人不多。本文拟提供该剧的创作背景及出版情况 ,包括它的四种不同版本。文章侧重点放在剧本的分析上。该剧是关于人物关系的剧作。剧中人物关系主要表现为母子关系、婆媳关系及夫妻关系。理解剧本的关键是把握人物之间的关系 ,而俄狄浦斯情结则是理解人物关系的关键。 More Stately Mansions is one of Engene O'Neill's unfinished tragedies and it is not as well-known as his other plays. This article first aims at providing basic back-grounds for the process in which it was composed and for how it was published (including its four different editions). Based on this, further analyses are given to the relationships between the main characters, namely, mother and son, husband and wife, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, etc. Through the analyses we shall see that the main characters are all motivated by Oedipus complex. This play is about human relationships, therefore, the key to understanding it is the relationships between the characters, while the key to understanding the relationships is Oedipus complex.
