摘 要: 本文试图通过比较普遍语法和连接论来讨论二语习得研究领域里一个长期悬而未决的问题:普遍语法对二语习得是否起作用。作者认为,对此问题的回答取决于研究者如何看待母语在二语习得过程中的作用。母语的存在是二语习得的一个主要障碍,是二语习得跟母语习得的最重要区别,对于二语习得这一重要特征,连接论能够予以很好的解释,勿需借助基于母语习得的普遍语法理论。 This paper sets out to discuss a protracted controversy over the accessibility of Universal Grammar to L2 learning, based on an evaluation of connectionism and the UG model. The author holds that answers to this issue hinge on researchers' views on the role of L1 in SLA. The presence of L1 constitutes a major obstacle to L2 learning and a characteristic feature that distinguishes L2 from L1 learning. For this feature, connectionism offers a better account than the L1-based UG.
