Through the study on the 16 men and women athletes participating in the men's and women's horse-vaulting finals at the Sydney Olympic Games, the thesis reveals the characters of horse-vaulting competitions and the relationship among difficulties, types, landing techniques and stability. It shows that most horse-vaulting movement are determined by landing techniques. Difficulties of movement should comply with ability and can be raised on the basis of stable landing. On the types of movement, men athletes usually choose the instant push for good impression, while women athletes now incline to choose the hollow somersault turning body movement and land at the front after a jump into the air. Another key factor to win high score in horse-vaulting competitions is to emphasis the training of landing techniques.
