摘　　要： 英国谚语源远流长,源头丰富,涉及到社会生活的方方面面。来源之一是家喻户晓的《圣经》;来源之二是不计其数的英国文学作品;来源之三是脍炙人口的《伊索寓言》;来源之四是欧洲一些具有影响的外来语;来源之五是英国民众聪明睿智的创造。 The English proverbs have a long history. Their origins are rich and involved in every aspect of the social life. The first genesis is the well-known Holy Bible. The second origin consists of the countless English literary works. The third source embraces the popular Aesop's Fables .The fourth genesis lies in some influential foreign languages in the Europe. The fifth origin is made up of the wise invention of the English people.
