Abstract The Systemic Functional Grammar(SFG)and the Transformational Generative Grammar(TGG)are of the typical antagonistic theories of language today in regard to the epistemology and the practical descriptive methodology of each. However,there must be a place of intersection of each other since the object of both is concerned with language. It is for this reason that the paper makes an attempt to link the two prominent grammatical models in the light of the achievements by cognitive psychology. It starts with the consideration of the factors concerned with both, i.e. the brain and the situation, then gives a general analysis of the SFG and the TGG to seek for the expected linkage, and finally reaches the goal in the face of their cognitive differentiation.
