摘　　要： “艺术本质特征”的问题，是个“斯芬克司之谜”。作者借鉴和运用当代文艺理论研究的新成果，先对几种流行的且有代表性的论调，作了一番扫描式的评述，然后着重对“形象特征论”、“情感特征论”这两种传统的“艺术特征论”，进行重新审视和深入剖析，论述了这两论的合理因素及其理论缺陷，为最终破解这一谜底提供一点启迪和参照。 The nature of art is a Sphinxs riddle.Making use of the recent results of research on contemporary literary criticism,the authors of this paper comment comprehensively on the several popular representative theories in terms of this issue,then reconsider and analyze the image oriented theory and emotion oriented theory on the nature of art,point out their reasonable elements and theoretical weaknesses,and finally provide some points of view for the solution of this riddle.
