摘　　要： 作为“社会活动家型”的学者 ,王灵智教授不仅是研究华人问题的著名学者 ,在维护美国华人权益活动上也成绩斐然。他几乎参与了过去三十多年来每一种维护美国华人权益的运动。他把自己定位为一名“社会参与型”的研究者 ,以自己的实际行动表明 ,学者作为社会中的一员 ,使命应该是通过自己的努力 ,揭示社会问题 ,启发人们思考 ,提高人们的认识 ,进而促进社会的发展。 As a famous scholar and a social activist, Professor Ling-chi Wang has played a significant role not only in the development of Overseas Chinese Studies, but also in protecting the human rights of Chinese Americans. For over 30 years he has participated in the civil rights movement of Chinese and Asian Americans. Professor Wang sees himself as a professor who applies his research to problem-solving and social activism. He believes that a researcher, as a citizen, should actively participate in understanding and solving social problems and should help promote people's understanding and development of the society.
