摘　　要： 本文应用信息经济学关于教育在人力资源市场提供筛选机制的理论,结合中国的户籍制度,分析城乡户籍分割对高等教育的筛选功能的影响。由于基础教育与户籍挂钩,农村的优质教育资源极度匮乏,获得优质基础教育的成本远远高于城市,再加上城乡之间巨大的收入差距,削弱了高等教育作为筛选机制对于农村学生的作用,导致农村学生人力资源的巨大浪费和人力资源的分级配置被扭曲。 This paper attempts to investigate the effect of urban-rural segmentation caused by the household registration control policy in China on the screening function of higher education.We develop a framework based on the theory of Information Economics arguing that education serves as a screening device in the labor market.The main findings are that the extremely scarcity of well-found basic education institutions and the high costs to acquire good quality basic education in the countryside along with the great urban-rural income difference due to the household registration control policy may weaken the screening effect of higher education and the inefficiency of screening device induces waste and distorted sorting of the human resource of rural students.
