摘　　要： 汉语成语的英译一直是一个为人们所关注的问题。本文从汉民族思维模式的角度分析了汉语中存在大量四字成语的原因,即偶对思维,尚古思维和具象思维,井提出了对成语中的虚义部分和成语中的形象部分在汉英翻译中应采取的策略,以便最大限度地把成语中的文化色彩传达到英语中去。 The translation of four-character phrases has been an issue of great interest. The paper elaborates on three ways of thinking of the Chinese people, pair thinking, exaltation for antiquity and emphasis on perception of the concrete, which contributed to the abundance of four-character phrases in Chinese. In order to convey the information and culture-loaded elements of four-character phrases into English, the author puts forward some strategies focusing on images and the parts with empty meanings in four-character phrases.
